Tsukji Fish Market, Tokyo Japan

10:00 am

Tsukji Fish Market, Tokyo Japan
I poke my head out of the taxi for some air, noting the darkness that surrounds us at 4:00am. This morning, we’re going to Tsukiji Fish Market - the largest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world.

Sellers are still setting up shop when we arrive. It’s the perfect time for me to acquaint myself with the space. Upon arrival, Tsukji  seems  intimidating with a whole lot of chaos. But a closer look reveals that everything and everyone is moving at a routined manner. Fresh catch is loaded into the market by car, boat, or truck then parts are auctioned off.

With one eye on my eyepiece and the other on the trucks zooming by transporting catch from one location to another, I peruse the aisles for anything interesting on display.

Naturally, the sushi restaurants at the Tsukji had some of the best sushi I've ever tasted.
